Like many of us, members of the Royal Family are known to enjoy alcohol from time to time. Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall are regularly away from home, whether it be on royal engagements in the UK or away on a royal tour. But while the royal couple are away, Charles and Camilla have been known to make arrangements for their evening refreshments.
BYOB is common practice at house parties for us ordinary folk, but it’s not something you’d ever assume a member of the Royal Family has to do.
However, according to Telegraph reporter Gordon Rayner, who has attended 20 royal tours, Charles and Camilla often travel with their own alcohol.
Prince Charles is known to be partial to a gin and tonic, while Camilla’s chosen tipple is often a glass of red wine.
And while the idea of Charles and Camilla bringing their own alcohol certainly seems humble, there is actually an important security reason behind their actions.

Mr Rayner explained: “Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall sometimes take their own alcohol so there’s no danger of their drinks being spiked.
“Their police bodyguard will discreetly carry a bag of their drinks —gin and tonic for him and red wine for her.”
According to a source reportedly close to Charles, the prince can also be very particular on the kind of alcohol he drinks.
The source told Woman magazine: “[Charles] can be quite fussy when it comes to food and alcohol.
“He’ll take booze on royal tours with him so that he has always got something he likes to drink.
“It’s quite strange behaviour, but for Charles, it just makes sense!”
Camilla is known to be very fond of wine, and she actually serves as President for the UK’s Vineyard Association.
At a speech celebrating the association’s anniversary, Camilla professed her love for the tipple.

She said: “People always ask me how I became involved in it all, well, first of all, I love wine, but secondly, my father was in the wine business, so I was brought up as a child drinking wine and water rather like the French.”
However, it seems it’s not just Charles and Camilla who appreciate good booze in the Royal Family.
The Queen is known to favour gin like her son Charles, but is also known to enjoy a glass of wine or champagne.
Some reports circulated that the Queen enjoys as many as four cocktails a day, but these claims have been rebuffed by her former royal chef, Darren McGrady.
He told CNN: “She’d be pickled if she drank that much.
“All I said was she likes a gin and Dubonnet. That’s her favourite drink.”
Mr McGrady said the Queen, like many of us, enjoys a tipple at the end of a long day.
He added: “Just in the evening. She certainly doesn’t drink four glasses a day.”
