Prince Charles was skewered by a US late-night show over his refusal to take calls from his son, Prince Harry. This comes after the Duke of Sussex confirmed during an interview with Oprah Winfrey that his relationship with his father had become estranged after he and Meghan Markle revealed their intention to leave the Royal Family. NBC’s The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon created a spoof of what the two men may have said to each other.
Host Jimmy Fallon told his socially distanced audience: “We actually got our hands on the last phone call between Harry and Prince Charles.
“It’s pretty intense, check this out.”
In the clip, one picture of Harry and one picture of Charles is shown with a voiceover of fake British accents.
The voice starring as the Duke of Sussex is heard saying: “Dad, it’s Harry. Dad? Hello?”
To which the voice acting as Charles replied: “I can’t talk to you anymore.”
When asked why, the Prince of Wales voice actor shoots back: “Mother says she’ll give the throne to someone else.”
The pair then go back and forth over who it will be before Charles reveals that the Queen’s corgis are the top choice.
To the amusement of the audience, the voice says: “She says she’ll make a corgi the next king instead of me.”

Harry’s actor tries to interrupt to say that this “isn’t even allowed”.
However, the Prince of Wales spoof voice cuts through: “Everyone will call it King Corgi.
“It will wear a little corgi crown and hold a little corgi sceptre.”

In the Oprah interview, Harry had said that when he and Meghan decided to quit their royal roles in Canada, he had “three conversations with [his] grandmother and two conversations with [his] father, before [Charles] stopped taking [his] calls”.
Harry claimed that his father may have refused his calls because he “took matters into [his] own hands”.
The Duke said: “I feel really let down because he’s been through something similar, he knows what pain feels like, and Archie’s his grandson.
“But at the same time – I will always love him – but there’s a lot of hurt that’s happened and I will continue to make it one of my priorities to try and heal that relationship. But they only know what they know, or what they’re told.”
Harry has since confirmed that he has been in contact with both Charles and Prince William.
