Prince Andrew has seen a US judge quash his bid to have Virginia Giuffre’s sexual assault case thrown out of court. The Duke of York is now facing a civil case to answer allegations he sexually abused Ms Giuffre when she was a teenager. Prince Andrew has denied all the accusations levelled against him. Royal commentator Angela Levin claimed the judgement left Prince William and Prince Charles “incredibly angry” about the prospect of a court case against a top royal.

Ms Levin told Sky News: “I think that Prince Charles and Prince William will both be incredibly angry with him.

“They’ve been angry already but the fact that his case has been thrown out means that actually, he can’t win in any way really, and certainly not in the public opinion which is very important to the royals at the moment.

“Because there’s all this dodginess with him and dodginess with Prince Harry and Prince Harry’s book, a memoir, will be coming out at the same time, and would no doubt attack the royal family.

“Because it’s all going to be about Dianna and his getting millions for it, so there will be attacks there.

“So there’s, it’s very, very difficult for them to do their duty I imagine,” she added.

Ms  Giuffre claims she was trafficked by disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein to have sex with Prince Andrew, and was seemingly pictured with the royal and his friend Ghislaine Maxwell during the period the alleged act took place.

While Giuffre’s claims against Andrew have not been proven, and the 61-year-old is not accused of criminal wrongdoing,  the US court decision does mean the prince could face a trial in a huge blow to the reputation of the royals.

The trial could begin between September and December 2022 if no out of court settlement is reached.

GB News: Prince Andrew's lawsuit ruling not a 'knockout blow'

Media lawyer Mark Stephens has said the ruling will prompt meetings of senior royals as they attempt to deal with the looming reputational damage to the monarchy during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee year.

He told the BBC: “Judge Lewis Kaplan has thrown a reasoned judicial decision like a bomb into the middle and the heart of the royal family and threatens to provoke constitutional crisis as a consequence.”

“Essentially, I think he’s either going to have to engage in the trial process or he’s going to have to settle and that may well be his least worst option,” added Mr Stephens.

“Prince Andrew has nowhere to go.”
