Prince Charles and Camilla celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary in mid-April, at the height of the coronavirus crisis. The loved-up couple spent the day privately after celebrating the milestone event with royal fans by sharing a relaxed picture of themselves sitting on the porch at their Scottish home.
But despite the pandemic, Charles and Camilla’s supporters were very keen to mark the key date and sent them their love and support via mail.
Almost three months after the heir apparent to the throne and the Duchess’ anniversary, one of these royal fans shared the reply they received from the royals.
The fan, who has an Instagram account called The Royal Mail Box where they publish correspondence from European royalty, published pictures of the letter sent by Charles and Camilla.
On one side, the card bears the insignia of Clarence House on top of a brief message from the royals.
It reads: “It was so very kind go you to think of sending us such a nice message for out 15th wedding anniversary, and we cannot thank you enough for remembering us in these difficult and uncertain times.”
On the other side, the card bears a picture taken last year during Charles and Camilla’s annual tour to Devon and Cornwall.
The snap shows a smiling Prince Charles hugging his wife on her birthday.
On that day, the couple were visiting Exmoor National Park.
The Instagram account owner revealed they sent their letter on April 15, four days after Charles and Camilla’s anniversary.
The royal reply arrived to the fan on July 9.
Other royal supporters expressed their joy at seeing such a heartfelt card.
Instagram user Europe Monarchies Replies wrote: “Oh, I can still hope to receive mine”.
HMQueenLaura added: “Wonderful! I also love your background for the photo!!”
Prince Charles and Camilla worked from home until mid-June, taking part in phone calls, video chats or sharing speeches online after filming them in their offices at Birkhall.
As lockdown started to ease, the couple resumed face-to-face engagements.
First, they visited NHS staff at a hospital in Gloucestershire to thank them for their continuous and tireless work during the pandemic.
They then travelled back to London to welcome French President Emmanuel Macron, who visited the capital to mark the 80th anniversary of L’Appel.
The pair is now carrying out a three-day tour of the Duchy of Cornwall.
Yesterday, Charles and Camilla visited Tintagel Castle together, walking across a breathtaking bridge over a 190ft gorge.
Later in the day, Camilla carried out a solo, socially-distanced, engagement as she visited the Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust’s base in Newquay.
There she officially named a chopper after her own title – but was interrupted by an emergency call which forced two of the paramedics attending the ceremony taking off.
