Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, 73, and Prince Charles, 71, were in Scotland when the first lockdown happened in March. The royal couple remained there throughout, finally returning to London in June for a special meeting with French President Emmanual Macron. Camilla and Charles have been mainly based at Clarence House ever since but could travel elsewhere as a second lockdown looms.

On Saturday, Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced England would go into a nationwide lockdown from November 5.

The new restrictions will force all non-essential businesses to close and for travel to be limited to a number of exceptions including for education.

The new measures will remain in place for four weeks and are due to end on December 2.

Working Royal Family members including Charles and Camilla are unlikely to carry out face-to-face engagements during the second lockdown.

While they may be able to continue with some royal duties virtually it seems likely they will work from home.

This being the case, they might choose to travel to their Scottish home Birkhall where they spent the first lockdown.

Birkhall

Birkhall is Charles and Camilla’s private residence in Scotland.

Prince Charles inherited the L-shaped house from the Queen Mother in 2002.

The home and gardens are part of the Balmoral estate.

However, Birkhall is not the only place Charles and Camilla could spend lockdown as they have several other residences dotted about the UK.

If Charles and Camilla choose to escape London for the next four weeks then, as well as Birkhall, there are several homes they could head to.

Highgrove House, Tetbury

Prince Charles bought Highgrove House in 1980, and it now serves as his family home. The garden and the prince’s nearby Duchy Home Farm are held up as “flagship examples of the organic movement, both in terms of their environmental sustainability and their natural beauty.”

Llwynywermod, Wales

Llwynywermod is Charles and Camilla’s Welsh home.

The Duchy of Cornwall bought and refurbished it in 2007.

However, there is a historical royal connection as it was once owned by relatives of Anne Boleyn, the doomed second wife of Henry VIII.

The three-bedroom farmhouse sits on a 215-acre estate of park, grazing land, and forest.

Tamarisk House, Isles of Scilly

The Duchy of Cornwall owns many properties and most of the freehold land on the Isles of Scilly.

Tamarisk House is Prince Charles’ official residence on the islands.

However, it is now available for holidaymakers to rent.
