Prince Andrew’s troubles pave the way for Harry and Meghan to escape ‘circus’ says expert
Andrew has been stripped of his royal duties after telling Ms Maitlis he had no regrets about visiting disgraced billionaire Epstein in the USA in 2010, two years after the billionaire was convicted of Florida state prostitution charges. Epstein, who was facing fresh charges, was found dead in his jail cell in July this year after apparently taking his own life.
The Duke of York, 59, also vehemently denies claims by one of Epstein’s accusers, Virginia Giuffre, that she was forced to have sex with Andrew in London, New York and on a private Caribbean island between 1999 and 2002, when she says Epstein kept her as a “sex slave”.
Prince Charles’ biographer Robert Jobson suggested the scandal which is threatening to engulf the Queen’s second son has given Harry, 35, and Meghan, 38, the ideal opportunity to stay out of the limelight.
He told the Heirpod podcast: “I think with a member of the Royal Family being effectively retired early, should Harry and Meghan not wish they be part of whole circus there’s almost a path for them now.
“If they said to Charles when he’s king, ‘Look we don’t really see ourselves in this type of role, we wanted a different type of role,’ I think he’d be flexible to that.”
Mr Jobson added: “There’s no pressure for them now.
“In terms of defining who they are and what they want to be if they want to spend half their time in America or somewhere else, I don’t see that as an issue.”\

Asked about Charles’s approach as monarch once he accedes to the throne, Mr Jobson said: “He will try to focus on Prince William’s family.
“But what that means for Prince Harry and Meghan, I don’t know.
“I think Prince Charles would be flexible because the core focus would be on William and his family, and Meghan and Harry are further down the totem pole.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are on a six-week break from royal life and will not joining the other royals for Christmas at Sandringham.
Instead, Meghan and Harry are spending downtime with Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland, while also reportedly planning the American launch of their Sussex Royal Foundation.
The moved has triggered speculation about whether they may eventually relocate to the States permanently.
However, royal commentator Phil Dampier told the Express such a move would not go down well with William, especially after Harry’s admission that the pair were on “different paths”, fuelling talk of a rift.
Mr Dampier said: “It would be a disaster if Harry and Meghan quit and lived abroad – William and Kate would be devastated.
“Behind the scenes I’m told Kate is doing her best to bring everyone together and help Meghan.
“None of them want to let the Queen down so Kate is trying to patch things up in private.”
Speaking about their trip to the States, one insider told the Daily Telegraph last week: “This is a mission that Meghan has been on for a long time.
“Even in her younger years in Hollywood, she wanted to work towards creating an international charity changing lives.
“Now that she has the platform and profile of being a British royal she can truly build this plan.”
