Prince Andrew, and his accuser Virginia Giuffre have reached an out-of-court settlement in the civil sex claim filed in the US for an undisclosed amount. Court documents show the Duke will make a “substantial donation to Ms Giuffre’s charity in support of victims’ rights”. But the Duke of York’s personal finances have been questioned by royal author Nigel Cawthorne.

Speaking to BBC News, Mr Cawthorne said: “We don’t have much of the details yet about how much money is involved and of course who is going to pay for it.

“He’s not a particularly wealthy man. Where is this money coming from?

“I’m sure all taxpayers in this country would like to know that.”
