Prince Andrew home: Where does Prince Andrew live? The TINY sum he pays for MANSION

Following what was widely deemed a ‘car crash’ interview on BBC Newsnight, Prince Andrew has stepped back from his royal duties. However, like many other royals, Prince Andrew currently resides in a property owned by the Royal Family.

The Duke of York resides in the 30-room Royal Lodge in Windsor.

For a one-off payment of £1million to the Crown Estate, Prince Andrew agreed a 75-year lease on the property in 2003.

In theory, this means the Duke of York pays only some £250 a week to rent his palace.

Chris Evans, a former member of the Public Accounts Committee, is urging MPs to look into the Duke of York’s financial situation.

Mr Evans, who is standing for re-election as the Labour MP for Islwyn in South Wales, told the Sunday Express: “I think [the lease] should be looked at and it should be put at market rate – £250 a week for that type of place is very small beer.

“I hope that in the next Parliament, whoever the members of the new Public Accounts Committee are, they will look at that forthwith.

“Serious questions have to be asked about where Prince Andrew’s wealth comes from.”

A 2005 National Audit Office report states the lease was not offered outside of the Royal Family because of its “sensitive location”, the Mirror reports.

Other members of the Royal Family reside on the grounds of Kensington Palace.

This includes the youngest daughter of the Duke and Duchess of York, Princess Eugenie.

Following her marriage to Jack Brooksbank in 2018, the couple now reside in the three-bedroom Ivy Cottage.

Both sisters have careers, with Princess Eugenie working at Hauser & Wirth Art Gallery in Mayfair.

Sister Beatrice also holds down a day job, working as vice-president of American software company, Afiniti.

However, it appears both sisters receive some help from their father.

The Duke of York’s official website states: “The Duke supports both of his daughters financially from his private income.”

Given the Duke of York will be stepping back from the limelight, there have been concerns over whether the Duke will continue to financially support his daughters – and whether Eugenie will be able to stay at Kensington Palace if this is the case.

However, sources suggest the rest of the Royal Family are rallying behind the York sisters in wake of the recent scandal, and wouldn’t let such a thing happen.

A Palace source told the Daily Mail: “There was a sense of everyone circling the wagons around the girls.”

The source added: “The Queen will continue to invite Beatrice and Eugenie to Balmoral over the summer and she sees quite a lot of them at Windsor.

“They, in turn, are fond of ‘Super Gran’, as they call her.”
