Prince Andrew spoke to a woman who was standing amongst the crowd outside of the Sandringham estate. The video appears to show the 62-year-old Duke telling the woman to “stand on a newspaper” to keep warm.

Following on from the annual royal ceremony, the Duke of York was spotted chatting with members of the public who gathered outside the royal residence.

A video shows Andrew talking with a group of people when he asked one woman if she has cold feet.

She responded, telling the royal she was “freezing”.

He replied: “Did you know the trick is to bring a newspaper? Stand on a newspaper and you insulate your feet.”

The lady he was speaking to said “thank you” before Andrew walked away.

A local, who filmed the interaction, said: “The whole thing was really odd.”

“I don’t imagine the woman will be testing his theory anytime soon,” they told The Sun.

The conversation took place on Christmas Day after the Royal Family left the building following their first festive service without Queen Elizabeth II.

Prince Andrew made a surprise appearance at the annual Christmas walkabout.

He walked behind senior members of the family as the crowds lined up outside of the St Mary Magdalene Church on the Norfolk estate.

King Charles was joined by Camilla, Queen Consort, at the head of the group, while Prince William and Kate followed behind them with their three children.

It comes after King Charles reportedly told Andrew he will no longer be allowed to have an office in Buckingham Palace or use the building as a corresponding address.

A source told the Sun: “Any presence at the Palace is officially over.

“The King has made it clear. He isn’t a working royal. He’s on his own.”

The skeleton staff retained since he stepped down from public duty three years ago could now face redundancy.
