Frogmore Cottage: Harry and Meghan asked to ‘vacate’ UK home

Prince Andrew is reportedly determined not to give up his home at Royal Lodge “without a fight”, despite his brother King Charles III offering him a new residence of Frogmore Cottage. But do you think the Duke of York should be allowed to stay at his current property? Vote in our poll.

Andrew has lived in the 30-room Royal Lodge on the Windsor Estate since 2003, and signed a 75-year lease on the Grade II listed property at the time, spending his own money repairing and renovating the property.

In an effort to make savings in the Firm, the King has embarked on a shake-up to the structure of the royal household. It has been suggested that Andrew could move into Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s former UK property, Frogmore Cottage.

A royal insider told OK! magazine: “Andrew is adamant that he is staying at Royal Lodge for the remainder of his lease. He will not move into Frogmore without a fight.

“Royal Lodge is his home and he will do everything in his power to remain in the property.”

They continued: “Prince Andrew was given the keys to Frogmore quite recently and was expected to move in this summer. Eugenie is currently staying there to help move out Harry and Meghan’s things while her dad tries to hold on to Royal Lodge.

“The handover date was expected in July or August but he’s not going anywhere.”

A friend of Andrew previously told The Mirror there is “no chance” the Duke will move. They claimed: “He [said] he’s not leaving, there is no chance that will happen and even if the King wanted him how would that work? The King won’t evict him so there is no chance it will come to that. If he [the King] wants to spend millions reimbursing him for the money he’s already spent on the property, that’s another matter.”
