A policeman was injured after football fans threw chairs at the London Stadium after a match between home side West Ham and Belgian team Anderlecht. Several flares were also set off in the away area of the stadium.
The football team have since apologised for the behaviour of their fans.
The West Ham football side posted updates on their official Twitter page.
They said: “Hearing another policeman was injured after being hit with a chair on the head.
“Anderlecht being held back at the London Stadium as the old bill take no chances.”
Manager Felice Mazzu said he did not see the latter incident but a club spokesman condemned the behaviour, reported the BBC.
A club spokesman said: “We want to apologise to West Ham.
“We don’t tolerate this and strongly condemn this behaviour. We will take it up with Uefa and our own fans.”
West Ham boss David Moyes, who described the words as a “big credit” to Anderlecht.
He said: “I did see something moving. But I had no interest in it.
“Why do we want to draw more attention to it? Everyone’s focus gets taken away when there is crowd trouble.
