The road outside Selfridges near Birmingham’s Bullring is closed in both directions and a cordon has been put up. A spokeswoman from West Midlands Ambulance said the service was called by police at 10.50am to Park Street by Moor Street Car Park, which is in the heart of the city.
They said two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the “West Midlands care team” were at the scene.
A Birmingham Live reporter at the scene said there were several police cars at the cordon and a security guard was carrying a portable curtain-like screen.
“An X2 bus is stranded in the middle of the road.”
Another reporter added: “A small crowd of people have gathered to witness the commotion.
“Police are redirecting people who are trying to get a bus. I also spotted a critical care ambulance worker removing a white suit.”
West Midlands Police has been approached for comment.
Video taken at the scene – yards from the Bullring Shopping Centre, one of the busiest in the UK – shows several emergency service vehicles behind a large police cordon.
