Police find body of woman after reports of person on fire in woodland
Police have found the body of a woman in Manchester after reports of a person on fire in woodland.
Officers were called at around 6.15pm on Saturday to reports of a blaze near Williams Road in Moston, about 3.5 miles northeast of Manchester city centre.
Greater Manchester Fire Service said they had been called to reports of a person on fire.
Police confirmed emergency services attended and found the body of a woman.
Her death is not being treated as suspicious.
No further details have been confirmed about the woman’s age, cause of death, or the circumstances of the fire.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at around 6.15pm this evening (Saturday 14 November 2020) by the fire service to a report of a fire in a woodland near Williams Road, Moston.
“Emergency services attended and sadly found the body of a woman.
“A scene is in place and an investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.”
A Greater Manchester Fire Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 6.01pm to a person on fire in an area of woodland off Williams Road in Moston.
“Initial enquiries suggest a fire in a woodland area which involved a female casualty.
“Fire investigation, the North West Ambulance Service and Greater Manchester Police are all in attendance.”
