Royal fans eager to see Prince George cheering for England again have taken to social media after a jubilant Prince William celebrated England’s victory yesterday evening. The Duke of Cambridge wrote: “What a game, what a result! A huge team effort @England.

“The whole country will be behind you on Sunday #ItsComingHome.”

While many social media users simply joined in the celebrations, others keen on seeing Prince George on the stands on Sunday replied to William’s message asking to let the seven-year-old go to the stadium.

One, publishing a picture taken last week of the Cambridges’ firstborn at Wembley, wrote: “Please can we have this young man at the final Dad?”

To which one replied: “Definitely. It would be lovely to see them there.

“What a memory to have, especially if they win.”

Another said: “That would be wonderful. Prince George would love it as would Prince William, I think.”

A third social media user, replying to the tweet published by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s Twitter account, said: “Congratulations to England and my best wishes for the biggest win in the finals.

“‘W’ we want to see you, your lovely wife, and your son, George on Sunday.”

A fourth simply said: “Bring George in his England shirt ๐Ÿ™‚ xxx”

This thought was shared by another royal fan, who joked: “Get George in an England shirt, tell his teacher he won’t be in school Monday.”

Prince George surprised royal fans with his appearance at Wembley on July 3, when he watched England winning over Germany.

Following the historic victory, George was quickly dubbed the Three Lion’s “lucky charm” by many royal fans.

The third-in-line to the throne was not present at yesterday’s semi-final likely because, unlike the round of 16 match, it started at 8pm – far too late for a seven-year-old on a school night.

As the EURO 2020 final will also kick off at 8pm on Sunday, chances are slim for royal fans to be able to see George at the stadium.

But, given the historic significance of the match and how big of a football fan Prince George is, Prince William – who is widely expected to watch the final in person but has yet to confirm his presence at Wembley – may decide to turn a blind eye on the time.

If he attends the EURO 2020 final on the stands, the Duke of Cambridge will surely not be in the company of his wife Kate, who will be still self-isolating after being exposed to COVID-19.

This comes after it was claimed Prince George had “begged” Prince William to go to Wembley Stadium with him last week with a matching suit and tie.

Reporting an explanation given to him by a friend of the Duke, royal expert Duncan Larcombe told OK! magazine: “Prince William is George’s absolute hero.

“He thinks his dad’s the most perfect person on the planet.

“George idolises his dad. That’s why we saw him looking so smart in his suit – he really wanted to dress like William.”

Prince George’s love for football was made apparent on his sixth birthday, when the Cambridges released two portraits of their firstborn wearing an England jersey.

And in 2019, one year after the Russia World Cup, Prince William revealed his son was still singing the Three Lions Football Anthem.

Meeting comedian Frank Skinner, who was behind the song made in 1996, at the Royal Variety Show, the Duke said: “I listen to your song every morning.

“Honestly, George plays it every morning ever since the World Cup.

“I thought it would fade away but it hasn’t. He still plays it every day.”
