Plane forced to divert after two passengers start brawling in mid-air

A busy plane was forced to divert after a fight broke out between two women on board.

A video shows the women intent on hurling abuse at each other while being urged to ‘shut up’ by fellow passengers.

After repeated attempts from the plane crew to defuse the situation, Frontier Airlines flight 2143 from Philadelphia to Las Vegas had to be diverted to Denver, where the two women were escorted off the aircraft and hauled off to the police.

Footage recorded by another passenger shows a woman wearing a red tank top shouting loudly and flailing her arms around while other passengers attempted to shush her.

While it’s not clear what triggered the row, 8NewsNow reported the woman in red had been having an argument with another passenger she was sitting close to, with plane staff having no choice but to separate the two.

This did little to calm the women, who continued to shout profanities at each other from different sides of the plane and hurling abuse at anyone who spoke to them.

The situation prompted other passengers to react, with one urging the woman to ‘just get your s*** together so we can get home’.

The brawl escalated even further when the woman in the red top realised she was being filmed, prompting her to rudely confront the person filming the altercation.

The passenger who captured the furious exchange on camera said the situation was very unpleasant for all the people involved.

‘It was fairly disruptive, so passengers began to tell them to shut up because their behaviour was escalating,’ the woman, who chose to remain anonymous, told KLAS.

She explained the plane crew had made repeated attempts to calm the women down, but unsuccessfully.

She also claimed a passenger was hit in the head as one of the belligerent women made her way to the bathroom, although the incident was not captured on film.

The footage concluded with the moment the women were hauled off the plane, with the one in the red top persisting in her attempts to berate the other woman. Passengers responded by telling her to ‘shut the f*** up’.

The woman who filmed the exchange also said some other passengers had to temporarily depart the plane to give witness statements to the police.

The flight was then able to leave again as soon as the two unruly women were removed, and arrived in Las Vegas an hour later than originally intended.

It is currently unclear whether any charges have been filed against the two women.

Only last week, a brawl broke out on a BA flight from London which saw a man being stabbed with a broken glass bottle. The attacker, who is said to be from St Lucia, was reportedly arrested by police when the aircraft touched down.
