Plane crashes into the ocean in Myrtle Beach

A banner plane crashed into the ocean in Myrtle Beach as hundreds of people watched from the sand.

The yellow-colored plane hit the water around 11.35am on Monday near 40th Avenue North at the South Carolina beach.

The pilot was transported to a nearby hospital, Myrtle Beach police Cpl Chris Starling told WBTW.

Hundreds of beachgoers could be seen watching from the shoreline as the plane remained floating in the water.

It happened just two days after a banner plane tried to land in the water off Hampton Beach in New Hampshire, but flipped in the air the moment its nose touched the water. The plane did a somersault and wound up upright in the ocean.
