The Good Morning Britain host has asked the government why they have decided to ease lockdown while the UK death troll is increasing weekly. Mr Morgan has regularly criticised Boris Johnson and government ministers for not appearing on his ITV breakfast show in recent weeks.
He tweeted: “Somebody ask Boris Johnson why he is easing lockdown measures when UK death toll is increasing week-on-week?”
His Twitter followers, however, disagreed with the statements, as they accused him of “scaremongering”.
One said: “Grand total increases but daily total decreases. Are you suggesting Boris should be able to bring back the ones who have sadly passed. If he did I still don’t think you would be happy. “
Another replied: “That’s a lie the daily death count is dropping.”
A third commented: “Maybe because the number of infections are going right down and we must get the country up and running again?”
Mr Morgan also slammed Health Secretary Matt Hancock for his Sky News interview yesterday as he spoke on the track and trace system that is being introduced.
The GMB host said: “On the day it’s confirmed the UK now has the worst #coronavirus death rate in the world, our Health Secretary @MattHancock chuckles his way through an interview about a testing system we should have had months ago to stop the carnage. What an absolute disgrace.”
Last week Piers was left fuming after Mr Hancock announced he would be appearing on ITV’s This Morning.
He and Susanna Reid revealed that government ministers had been boycotting the show, after a series of heated interviews.
After finding out that the Health Secretary would be interviewed by Holly and Phil in the neighbouring studio set to GMB, Piers commented he could hide and confront him.
He told Susanna: “So I just heard that Health Secretary Matt Hancock is doing This Morning, so maybe I’ll just hang around.

Susanna responded: “Maybe you can shout,” with her co-host adding the situation was “unbelievable”.
Piers added: “They wouldn’t do Lorraine’s show, she tweeted last night, any of the government.”
He concluded: “Mr Hancock if you’re watching, what’s the matter with you? Grow a pair.”
The track and trace app will let people know if they have been in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.
The purpose of the contact-tracing app is to try and track down people and alert them of the need to self-isolate faster than traditional methods.
To participate in contact tracing, users need to have an iPhone or Android phone and have Bluetooth switched on.
This will then track any people you come into contact with who have Bluetooth signals.
If a user comes down with coronavirus symptoms they report this in the app.
This data will then be shared with a health service database and people who have been in close contact will be urged to isolate.
