Piers Morgan told Australia’s Today programme that Good Morning Britain’s ratings have collapsed since he left the show in March 2021. The former ITV presenter added that the company’s share price fall valued him higher than the world’s most expensive footballer Neymar. In August 2017 PSG signed the Brazillian striker for £198 million from Barcelona.
Mr Morgan said: “It is quite interesting, two things happened when I left.
“One is the share price of ITV the company that put on Good Morning Britain fell by five percent or £250 million.
“Which valued me at about £50 million more than Neymar, the world’s most expensive footballer.
“The second thing that has happened is the ratings have completely collapsed.
“I don’t take any pleasure in that, I spent five years building up those ratings.”
He continued: “Ironically on my last day, we finally beat the BBC which had always been my mission.
“So in a way, I kind of scaled the mountain but they are certainly flying very fast down the other side.”
