Perivale fire: Firefighters descend on horrific ‘toxic’ blaze as public told to stay away
Around 80 firefighters are at the scene as half of the first and second floor of a three story building on Wadsworth Road are alight.
Crews were called to the scene at 11:35pm with 12 fire engines sent to the blaze.
One witness of the blaze shared a video of firefighters at the scene.
They tweeted the video with the caption: “Whole area is really a no go zone.”
Another twitter user from Perivale, Vinesh Pomal, added: “Is there an exclusion zone? There are residential properties near by and the smell is toxic!”
London Fire Brigade tweeted: “Residents in the vicinity of the warehouse fire in Perivale are advised to keep their doors and windows closed due to heavy smoke in the area.”
The brigade said in a follow up tweet: “Crews are making steady progress at the scene of the Perivale warehouse fire.
“Residents are still advised to keep doors and windows closed as firefighters work to bring the blaze under control.”
People in the area also took to social media to share their concerns over the fire.
Natalie Wall tweeted: “The smoke and smell is so bad.”
Another Twitter user said: “I’m smelling this right now as well, it’s a very strong smell out on the stress right now!”
The cause of the fire is not known at this stage.
The London Fire Brigade’s 999 control officers have taken 28 calls about the fire.
Crews from Wembley, Ealing, Acton, Southall, Stanmore, Park Royal and surrounding fire stations were sent to the blaze.
