The BBC Radio 5 Live caller told presenter Nicky Campbell people should be able to decide whether to get jabbed without the Government imposing any decision. Health Secretary Sajid Javid confirmed that vaccines are to be compulsory for frontline NHS staff in England. Mr Sajid insisted the move could cost the NHS several hundreds of workers but ultimately the protection of “vulnerable patients” remained paramount.

Nicky Campbell chipped in: “There was grief but there was joy and there was laughter.
“That’s the best.

The caller said in response: “I’ve not really got an answer to counteract your position clearly.
“Other than to say, and it’s not a real argument, but going back into the first wave.
“It was passed on from hospital to care homes and people were discharged from hospital with COVID.
“And the horrendous amount of deaths, per se.”
He continued: “Not particularly a cogent argument. Really.
“It is difficult. But it’s just a principle.
“People shouldn’t be told this is what you’re going to do as a result of the unemployment.
“It’s got consequences.”
Health Secretary Sajid Javid told MPs that he was to set a deadline for spring next year to give 103,000 unvaccinated NHS workers time to get both jabs.
However, fears have been raised that some workers might leave due to this move, adding to healthcare staffing issues.
Ninety percent of NHS staff are fully vaccinated.
