Pen Farthing has admitted attempts to rescue his employees and almost 200 animals from Afghanistan have failed with the ex-Royal Marine leaving Kabul airport alone. Mr Farthing has been campaigning for weeks for “Operation Ark,” a last-ditch attempt to get his rescue animals and staff members out of the reach of the Taliban. However, he has since told BBC that Thursday’s terrorist attack, combined with rule changes by President Biden, meant he was forced to abandon his animals and colleagues.
The former Royal Marine Commando told BBC: “Biden had changed policy on who’s allowed in.
“We were forced to leave the airfield, and just as we did, that’s when those attacks happened and then all hell broke loose,” Mr Farthing said.
“As we were trying to flee from the airport, we were getting tear-gassed so we were obviously trying to drive the vehicle when we can’t see anything.
“It was just the most horrific thing.”

Mr Farthing added: “We had gone through hell to get there.”
“There’s nothing I can do.

He told the BBC: “Staff have asked me to take as many dogs and cats as I can.
“But now I can’t get them past the Taliban checkpoints.”

“My mission to get them out of Afghanistan has just ended because Joe Biden stopped it.”
It comes following the brutal terrorist attack at Kabul airport, claimed by ISIS, which killed at least 90 Afghans and 13 US Marines.
ISIS-K, a regional front of Daesh claimed responsibility for the bombings which the group said were aimed at “translators and collaborators with the American army”.
Meanwhile, President Joe Biden has pledged to “hunt down” those responsible.
