Paul Burrell shares letter Princess Diana wrote which is ‘relevant’ to Prince Harry today

The ex-royal servant posted a snap of a handwritten note alongside a black and white portrait of the Princess of Wales and her two sons. The heartfelt message reads: “I love my boys to death and hope that the seeds I’ve planted will grow and bring the strength, knowledge and stability that is needed.” Mr Burrell revealed the touching sentence scribbled in black pen on a piece of paper after Harry, 35, and Meghan, 38, announced their shock decision to split from the royal family.

The father-of-two said: “As Harry, Meghan and Archie embark on a new life, I am reminded of some poignant words which Princess Diana wrote to me many years ago.

“They are a mother’s words of unconditional love which are as appropriate today as they were when she wrote them over 24 years ago.”

Diana wrote the letter to her personal butler not long before she was tragically killed in a car crash in Paris in August 1997.

Royal fans reacted to Mr Burrell’s post with an outpouring of support for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex as they begin their latest adventure abroad.

The pair and their eight-month-old son Archie are staying at an exclusive beachside mansion near North Saanich on Vancouver Island.

The family-of-three are laying low after the royal crisis erupted earlier this month, throwing the Queen, senior royals and members of the public off guard.

One person responded to Mr Burrell’s post by saying that Diana “made Harry the man he is now”.

And another said the princess provided her sons with a solid grounding before her untimely death.

They wrote: “You offer the most sober, loving reminder that Diana provided the princes with the finest grounding and love for service to humanity.

“She would want @sussexroyal to find their way to that, in their own, authentic fashion.”

And a third marvelled at the “beautiful words from Diana” which were penned more than two decades ago.

Another Instagram user praised Diana’s “beautiful sentiments and words of wisdom”.

They applauded her for raising William and Harry “the way she did, to see the world beyond the palace walls”.

Mr Burrell first got his foot in the door at the age of 18 when he landed a footman job at Buckingham Palace.

It didn’t take long for him to be promoted and he became the Queen’s personal footman a year later.

The Cheshire native has given numerous interviews detailing his relationship with Diana, as he was considered the mother-of-two’s closest confidante.

The former butler is believed to have raked in millions from media deals over the years.

As the royal crisis appears to have dialled down a notch, it was business as usual for senior royals this week.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge stepped out for a Holocaust Memorial event in Westminster on Tuesday.

Kate, 38, was overheard telling a guest she and William had spoken to Prince George, six, Princess Charlotte, four, and 21-month-old Prince Louis about the genocide during the Second World War.
