Passengers were left screaming and clinging to their seats after their ferry was engulfed by a storm in Turkey.
People aboard the İDO Istanbul Fast Ferries boat reportedly fainted as the typically three-hour voyage took more than four hours due to the turbulent weather on Thursday afternoon.
The boat was travelling from Avşa Island to Istanbul, about 83 miles north, when it was rocked by a storm along the Sea of Marmara.
One rider told the Turkish newspaper Hürriyet that wind and rain hit the boat about 15 minutes into the voyage and raged for some 45 minutes.
‘It was like the apocalypse,’ they added.
The ferry captain had to reassure passengers to calm down at least four times as waves pummeled the vessel at about 3pm.
But his words did little to ease the fears of those on board, with video showing seawater entering the ferry as people tried to stop themselves from falling overboard with every nauseating sway.

In footage uploaded by Hava Forum, an online meteorological forum, waves can be seen from the crashing into the craft as it’s sent upwards.
Babies and children screamed as the boat was violently rocked and fears rose fast of the ferry being flipped over.
According to the earthquake monitoring website Volcano Discovery, a magnitude 3.1 earthquake shook the inland sea that day.
In his final announcement before the boat safely docked at the Avcilar Terminali port, the ferry captain said that it was the ‘first time’ he had encountered such a storm in 15 years.
Six passengers suffered from severe seasickness. No injuries were reported.
A second ferry travelling from Avşa to the southern Yenikapı port was similarly thrown into chaos by the storm, Hürriyet reported.
Some passengers ‘loudly prayed’, the newspaper said.
