Part of popular holiday park cordoned off after 'tragic' incident in caravan

Part of a holiday park has been cordoned off by police after a ‘tragic’ incident in a caravan.

Few details have been revealed about what occurred this afternoon at the Parkdean’s Ty Mawr Holiday Park in north Wales.

Police have confirmed they are on the scene of a ‘serious incident’ but stressed there is no threat to the wider public.

An air ambulance was sent to the scene while pictures showed large crowds of holiday-makers gathering at the site.

The park said it was ‘shocked and saddened’ by what was described as a ‘tragic incident.’

A statement said: ‘Ty Mawr is a 100 acre family park which welcomes tens of thousands of happy holidays makers every year.

‘This was an isolated and unprecedented incident which took place inside a caravan which is now a crime scene.

‘Our team are assisting Police with their enquiries and as it is a police matter we can’t comment further at the moment.’

North Wales Police said on Twitter: ‘Police are in attendance at a serious incident at a Holiday Park near Abergele. Investigations are ongoing.

‘Apologies for any disruption caused. There is no threat to the public but please stay away from the area whilst we deal with the incident. Thank you for your patience.’

Metro.co.uk has contacted police for further comment.
