A paramedic has died following a collision between a cement lorry and an ambulance which saw three others injured.

Emergency services were called to the coastbound carriageway of the A21, near Sevenoaks in Kent, at around 8.15pm yesterday.

Firefighters, police, paramedics and an air ambulance all attended the crash and worked in freezing conditions to help those involved.

Four people were injured in the collision, and initial reports suggest two of them were seriously hurt.

South East Coast Ambulance confirmed a paramedic involved in the crash had died this morning.

Emotional photographs taken at the crash site on Wednesday night showed members of the ambulance service called to the tragic incident hugging and supporting one another.

The road was closed for more than 10 hours after the incident.

Investigators worked through the night, using specialist lasers to recreate what happened and collect evidence from the scene.

Dashcam footage is understood to have been recovered from the ambulance and the cement lorry, but police are also appealing for anyone else who may have evidence to come forward.

In a statement, Kent Police said: ‘Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit have commenced an investigation and are asking anyone with dashcam footage prior to the incident to come forward.

‘Anyone who witnessed the collision is also being asked to contact officers.’
