Shocking footage captures the moment a wheelchair-bound black man was dragged from his car and forced to the ground by Maryland police officers in a sickening case of mistaken identity.

In the clip, the unnamed man can be seen riding in a car with his family when an officer pulls him over at the side of the road.

After knocking on his window, the cop tells him to exit the vehicle, at which point the man explains he is paralysed.

‘I’ll need you to come out so I can talk to you,’ the officer says.

‘No problem. I’m paralyzed, you want me to just come out?’ the man replies.

But as he opens the door, the officer drags the man out of the car and leaves him sitting on the side of the road, confused and angry at his treatment.

‘I’m paralysed, do you know what that means?’ he asks as the officers leave him on the roadside.

‘He’s paralyzed, he can’t walk, he’s a paraplegic,’ the man’s wife is heard saying, explaining that he needs a wheelchair and that she is his primary caretaker.

While attempting to find out what is going on, the man is heard asking the pair why he is being treated in this manner by the officers.

He’s eventually manoeuvred back into the car before his wife goes to get his wheelchair. The man continues filming the ordeal as the officer begins to refute how the events unravelled.

‘You have your camera on?’ the man asks as the officer attempts to lift him back into the vehicle in an undignified manner.

‘This could have been a little easier, you guys, this is f***ed up’ he adds.

The officer later tries to deflect criticism by claiming the man asked him for assistance.

It’s later explained that he is going to be arrested for a crime which took place in an area, despite the man explaining that he was just passing through and has never been to the area before in his life.

More than 3,900 people have commented on the footage since it was uploaded onto TikTok, which has seen it gather almost 50,000 reactions and over 660,000 views.
