The new photograph released of King Charles III shows him carrying out official Government duties from his red box in the Eighteenth Century Room at Buckingham Palace. Speaking on the latest episode of Royally Us, host Christina Garibaldi spotted that, in the new photograph, a small black-and-white photograph of Charles’ late parents can be seen in the background, as if they are “looking over his shoulder”.
Speaking to her co-host Christine Ross, Ms Garibaldi said: “I love in the photo, behind him, is a photo of his parents. [A] black and white photo.”
She added: “It’s nice, you know, always, kind of, looking over his shoulder, I think it’s great.”
Also speaking of Charles’ photograph, Ms Ross said: “I love these photos, they’re always staged very very carefully.”
She also pointed out that there is “this big, sort of, crusty Tome of Shakespeare’s complete works on the desk with him”.
Ms Ross added that these things are placed there “on purpose” and shows they are “thinking things through”.
Ms Garibaldi added: “Always great to find those little easter eggs in the background.”
Red boxes, the one seen in the photograph of Charles, contain papers from Government ministers in the UK and the realms as well as from representatives of the Commonwealth.
These are sent from the Private Secretary’s office to the King.

During Charles’ first address to the nation, a small photograph of the late Queen could be seen on his desk, in full view of the camera.
Speaking directly to the camera, King Charles made reference to a broadcast, from 1947, whereby the Queen, then aged 21, declared that she would “devote her life”, whether it be “long or short” to the service of her peoples”.
He added: “That was more than a promise: it was a profound personal commitment which defined her whole life. She made sacrifices for duty.”
