Fury has erupted after a pro-Palestine protester was allegedly spotted carrying a placard which read “The Final Solution?” while marching through Central London on Saturday (December 9).

The Met Police is now asking the public to help identify a man in connection with the incident, who was photographed wearing a keffiyeh scarf.

The placard appears to show the Israel flag, featuring two people in the centre trying to topple the Star of David, which had an American flag painted in the middle.

The words “The Final Solution?”, the name given to the Nazi plan for Jewish genocide during the Second World War, also featured on the sign.

Scotland Yard said: “We understand why people are angry and disappointed that this man wasn’t arrested yesterday during the protest.

“We share those frustrations and obviously we wish he had been. We’re appealing for the public’s help to identify this man.

“The reality is with a protest involving 40,000 people where officers are focusing not just on placards but on crowd safety, potential disorder and other offences there will always be some that are missed.

“We have shown that where offences aren’t seen in the moment we will still act, identifying suspects and making arrests.”

During the latest march in support of Palestine, 13 people were arrested. Most were for offensive placards.

One woman was filmed allegedly waving a cardboard sign which appeared to feature a photograph of nude Holocaust victims next to a picture of Gazan man being stripped to their underwear next to Israeli soldiers.

The caption said: “Spot the difference,” while the other side of the placard said “stop killing children”.

The Met has asked a woman, who was wearing a beanie hat and a Palestinian keffiyeh scarf, “ to come forward” in connection with the incident.

In the last two months 300 people have been arrested at Pro-Palestine related protests.
