‘Only way to send a message!’ Ann Widdecombe says she is standing to STOP EU meddling

Nigel Farage has been unveiling his candidates who will stand as MEPs for his Brexit Party over the last few days. Many candidates, like Ann Widdecombe, have been scrutinised for formerly being members of the Tories and have had to defend their reasons for defecting to the pop-up party. Ms Widdecombe argued that because of continuous meddling by the EU and UK parliament the Brexit party was desperately needed to send a message.

While speaking to ITV she said: “It is a farce that any of us are in this position.

“You are asking me to predict my future conduct as if this was a normal election in which there would be a certainty of being there for any period of time.

“We are in a farce, we are in a very very stupid position and Parliament has put us there.

“This is the only way we can send a message to say get on with it.

“Indeed you talk about other policies, the public would love to hear about policies, about health about pensions about education.

“It has been dimmed out not by Brexit as such.

“But by the peculiar machinations going on in Parliament.”

The former Tory politicians also showed great faith in the party leader Mr Farage as she claimed that he was more successful than any politician other than Margaret Thatcher.

Reports suggest that new polls reveal that Mr Farage’s party has 27 percent support.

This figure is significantly higher than Labour and the Tories, which poll at 22 percent and 15 percent respectively.
