One dead after plane hits electricity pylon before crashing into field
A man has died and another has suffered serious injuries after a light aircraft crashed in a field, Kent Police said.
A man, 51, was pronounced dead at the crash site in Postling near Hythe on Sunday while a man in his 40s was airlifted to hospital.
The plane struck a high voltage electricity pylon before crashing into the field in a Tiger Moth.
South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent Fire and Rescue Service also rushed to the scene after the crash was reported to police on Sunday at about 2.05pm.
The deceased’s next of kin have been informed.
A police spokesman said: ‘The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) is investigating the incident; however, police remain at the scene and will prepare a report for the coroner.’
A South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust spokesman said: ‘A man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene and another man was treated at the scene for serious injuries before being airlifted to Kings College Hospital in London.’
