It is not clear what led to the bizarre accident in the Harehills district of the city but the blue people carrier mounted the pavement before running into the mini-roundabout sign.

West Yorkshire Police said officers were called to the scene to ensure the damaged vehicle was removed from its unsteady position.

The inexperienced motorist was left red-faced but there were no serious injuries.

It is not clear if any arrests were made.

Maybe the learner driver should have gone to Specsavers…
