Mr Biden made his first trip to the UK as US President last week, to attend the G7 Summit in Cornwall. At the conclusion of the meeting of world leaders, Mr Biden and his wife, Dr Jill Biden were invited to meet with the Queen at Windsor Castle for tea and a private conversation. But the US President appears to have made a blunder, as he told reporters what they discussed during his visit.
He told the press what the Queen asked him about when he visited her at Windsor on Sunday afternoon.
Mr Biden said they chatted about a range of topics, including the President’s relationship with Xi Jinping and Vladamir Putin, the leaders of China and Russia respectively.
The newly-elected President told reporters: “She wanted to know what the two leaders that I – the one I’m about to meet with, Mr Putin, and she wanted to know about Xi Jinping.”
It is a royal protocol that conversations had with the Queen remain private, and are not disclosed to the press.
Very rarely is this rule broken.
The error comes after the US President appeared to break another royal protocol on Friday night, at an evening reception of the world leaders.
Mr Biden’s 18-car convoy arrived at the G7 dinner reception five minutes after the Queen and other senior royals had arrived at the Eden Project.
Traditionally, all guests are meant to be in place before Her Majesty arrives for any official occasion.

An expert warned “everyone” should arrive before the royals at ceremonial events – and nobody should leave before them at the end.
As reported by the Daily Mail, British professional coaching company Debrett’s states: “It is correct for everyone to arrive before the royal personage and protocol rules that no guest should leave an event before a member of the Royal Family.”
The Queen does not follow this rule on wedding days when she allows the bride to arrive just after her.
But Mr Biden’s late arrival did not appear to dampen spirits, with the Queen appearing all smiles as she chatted to the world leaders.

She later cracked a joke as they stood to take a formal photograph.
Joining world leaders including Mr Johnson, Mr Biden and Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, the Queen said as photographers snapped away: “Are you supposed to be looking as if you’re enjoying yourself?”
The group descended into laughter as Mr Johnson replied “yes”.
He added: “We have been enjoying ourselves – in spite of appearances.”
Her Majesty later prompted more hysterics when she insisted on cutting a cake with a sword.
She was told that a knife was available but went ahead with using the large silver sword, quipping: “This is something that is more unusual.”
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall also joined the Queen for the reception at the Eden Project.
