Earlier today, EU bosses issued a Brexit doomsday forecast warning the UK’s exit from the bloc will hamper the recovery of Britains coronavirus crippled economy. But Express.co.uk readers have told eurocrats to back off.
The European Commission’s summer forecast predicts Britain will plunge into a deeper recession before showing signs of a rebound as coronavirus lockdown restrictions are lifted across the country.
The shock forecast warned GDP would slump -9.7 percent.
The EU warned Britain faced a more troubling rebuilding process from the consequences from coronavirus as a result of its exit from the Union.
A poll, which ran from 2pm to 9pm on July 7, asked whether eurocrats should be making economic forecasts about the UK ahead of the nation’s departure from the EU.
A staggering 3,612 people cast their vote with 94 percent (3,368) of voters saying eurocrats should not make economic forecasts.
One said: “Of course they shouldn’t, the EU love a good fairy story though, especially the one about the level playing field, that’s a good one.”
Another argued eurocrats are only meddling because they lost one of their “biggest and most lucrative markets”.
They said: “No, of course not, and the only reason they are still doing it is to make themselves feel better about losing control of one of their biggest and most lucrative markets.
“However, give them their due, most of their pronouncements are comedy gold.”
Others suggested it is all part of the EU tactics to influence the FTA negotiations.
Another lashed out at the EU claiming they are redundant and bankrupt.
They said: “Pathetic it just shows how desperate the redundant and bankrupt the EU is.

“The EU is getting nothing from the UK, no concessions whatsoever, it is the EU that is about to implode, not the UK.
“The EU’s only intention is to drag the UK down with it while expecting the UK to foot the bill for the EU’s fiscal incompetence and endemic corruption, we need to leave WTO as soon as possible.”
Another simply said: “WTF do they know?”
Just six percent (228) said they should and only 16 people said now.
The EU report warned a “failure” to reach a trading agreement between the UK and bloc would “result in lower growth, particularly for the UK.”
It said: “It is possible that the transition period ends without any agreement on the future trading relationship.
“Even if a trade agreement between the EU and the UK is concluded, the future EU-UK trading relationship will be less beneficial than assume in the purely technical assumption of an unchanged trading relationship, and will therefore lead to more negative outcomes for both sides, in particular for the UK for which trade with the EU is more important than trade with the UK for the EU.
“A failure to secure an agreement on the future trading relationship between the UK and the EU could also result in lower growth, particularly for the UK.”
Rupert Lowe, a former Brexit Party MEP, hit back at Brussels, and urged the bloc to keep its nose out of Britain’s affairs.
He said: “The EU’s behaviour is becoming more and more like that of a bitter, jilted ex-partner.
“Increasingly desperate to see us fail and will do anything in their power to make that happen.
“As we finally come out of lockdown, the last thing the British people want to be told is that we can’t succeed by some jumped up bureaucrat whose tax free salary will go untouched whatever happens. Take a hike!”
