Nigel Farage makes heartbreaking Brexit confession – ‘The best moment of my life’

The leading Brexit advocate was speaking to a group of around 400 supporters on Saturday following the UK’s formal departure. Mr Farage also announced plans to launch a new think tank, called Brexit Watch, to examine how Britain can succeed outside of the EU.

The Brexit Party will continue operating, as an insurance policy against the Government making what Mr Farage regards as excessive concessions to Brussels during trade talks.

Addressing his supporters Mr Farage commented: “I thought the night of the referendum was the best moment of my life, actually tonight at 11pm is it.

“Be in no doubt this is the most significant moment since Henry VIII took us out of the Church of Rome and tonight we left the Treaty of Rome.”

Mr Farage also said he doesn’t plan to spend large amounts of time in the US supporting Donald Trump ahead of November’s presidential election.

He commented: “I will not be packing my tent and becoming Donald Trump’s warm up act.”

Ahead of the 2016 presidential poll Mr Farage was a vocal supporter of Trump and introduced him to supporters at a rally.

He was also one of the few public figures to defend Trump after Access Hollywood tapes emerged in which he made what some considered to be derogative comments about women.

According to The Sunday Telegraph part of the reason Mr Farage will spend less time in the US is the Trump campaign is concerned about working too closely with foreigners, following accusations of Russian interference in 2016.

The Russian state was accused of leaking emails damaging to the Democratic Party in a bid to get Trump elected.

Trump is currently facing impeachment over accusations he put pressure on Ukraine to investigate the son of one of his domestic political opponents.

However Mr Farage is due to attend next week’s state of the union speech by Trump as a guest.

Thousands gathered in London’s Parliament Square to celebrate Brexit on Friday night.

They waved union jacks and sang patriotic songs to mark the UK’s departure.

Earlier hundreds of anti-Brexit activists held a vigil outside the European Commission’s London headquarters.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson released a video message to mark the UK’s EU exit.

In it he commented: “When I look at the potential of this country waiting to be unleashed, I know that we can turn this opportunity into a stunning success.

“We have obeyed the people.

“We have taken back the tools of self-government.

“Now is the time to use those tools to unleash the full potential of this brilliant country and to make better the lives of everyone in every corner of our United Kingdom.”

Carrie Symonds, the Prime Minister’s partner, tweeted a picture of her dog wearing a union jack outfit.

To celebrate Brexit a number of Government buildings were lit up in red, white and blue.

Millions of commemorative fifty pence coins were also released.
