Nigel Farage in crash with van while trying to fill car with petrol
Nigel Farage has claimed he was hit by a van while out searching for fuel.
The former Brexit Party leader has cast doubt on Boris Johnson’s claims the petrol crisis is easing.
Tweeting this morning, he said he had to visit seven petrol stations and none of them had any fuel.
To make matters worse, the GB News host said he was then hit by the van while stationary at a roundabout.
Mr Farage tweeted: ‘The government tell us that the fuel crisis is easing…I went to 7 petrol stations this morning and there was no fuel at any of them. Was then hit by a van whilst stationary at a roundabout. Great start to the day!’
Petrol stations have been severely impacted by panic buying this week, after warnings that a lack of lorry drivers could prevent supplies reaching fuel pumps.
Yesterday, the The Petrol Retailers Association (PRA)’s latest survey of its members found just over one-in-four had run dry, down from more than a third on Tuesday.
The army has been drafted in to drive tankers and the situation is expected to further improve in the coming days.
Mr Farage was previously involved in a plane crash on the day of the 2010 election.
He was campaigning for UKIP when a banner got caught in the tailplane, bringing the aircraft down.
The politician suffered a broken sternum and ribs and his lung was punctured.
