Ms Sturgeon has repeatedly called for a second referendum on the UK’s EU membership. She is also demanding another referendum on Scotland’s place within the UK, despite the unionist victory in the 2014 referendum. During the 2016 Brexit referendum 1,018,322 voters in Scotland voted to leave the European Union, representing 38 percent of those who case a ballot.

Louis Stedman-Bryce, a former care home director, was elected as a Brexit Party MEP earlier this year.

He posted a video on his social media accounts claiming to represent Scottish voters who backed ‘Leave’ in 2016.

Mr Stedman-Bryce commented: “Hello my name’s Louis Stedman-Bryce and I’m the Brexit Party MEP for Scotland.

“I’m here representing over one million people here in Scotland that voted to leave the European Union.”

The European Parliament elections in May saw the SNP take three out of the six MEPs for Scotland, along with one for each of the Conservatives, Brexit Party and Liberal Democrats.

However there have been warnings a no-deal Brexit could lead to the breakup of the UK.

Conservative Scottish Secretary David Mundell suggested it might “fuel nationalist claims of a UK that is insensitive to Scotland’s needs”.

He added Ms Sturgeon would exploit it with “unseemly glee” in her bid to take Scotland out of the British union.

After publishing his video Mr Stedman-Bryce claimed lots of people, including former ‘Remain’ voters, had been in touch to offer their support.

One commented: “You are representing people like myself who may have voted ‘Remain’ but had hoped the EU would reform.

“As a committed unionist I respect the UK vote in 2016 and although I’m disappointed that the EU has opted for ‘more Europe’ I’m glad that we are leaving, hence I voted for the Brexit Party.”

The UK is due to leave the EU on October 31, unless a third extension is agreed by the British Government and EU leaders.
