Nick Ferrari slams culture secretary for PPE failings ‘How can we survive?’
During an interview on LBC Mr Ferrari grilled the Culture Secretary on the lack of PPE he had secured for the UK. Mr Dowden said the Government was working with countries across the globe to acquire resources and that 25 million gowns will arrive in Britain from China.
Mr Ferrari said: “Your colleague Robert Jenrick has said that there is 83 tonnes of PPE arriving from Turkey.
“You are aware that is just large 2 lorries loads?
“How is a country meant to survive on two HGVs of gowns?
“Seriously Mr Secretary.”
Mr Dowden replied: “Because that is just one place that we are securing resources from.
“400,00 gowns from Turkey, we have secured 25 million gowns from China, those will be coming in.
“We are working across the globe to get supplies.
“The Turkish flight is part of that overall effort.”
At the time of writing, Britain has the sixth highest number of COVID-19 cases in the world.
The UK has more than 120,000 cases in total.
The death toll in Britain is currently higher than 16,000.
A total of 596 people died as a result of coronavirus yesterday in the UK.
