An NHS nurse said that she does not feel too hard done by the fact that the vaccine mandate has been lifted now that she is fully jabbed. Donna Hales welcomed the change of heart, telling TalkRADIO host Jeremy Kyle that it would have been unfair for some nurses to be dismissed after their invaluable contribution to the country during the pandemic when hospitalisations went through the roof. Despite the fact that she was in some way forced to get double jabbed in a bid to keep her job, she did not blame those who rebuked the double injection, saying that she is “very much down the middle”.

She said: “I think that we have to remember that nurses and the healthcare professionals are human beings as well and they have got the ability to make their own decisions!”

But she wanted the authorities to delve into the figure, doubting that all of the reported 77,000 unvaccinated staff members are frontline health workers.

Donna added: “The figures are suggesting, although we hear there are 77,000 members of staff not vaccinated, about 5 percent of NHS staff aren’t vaccinated as yet.

“What nobody has been able to tell me as yet is which group of staff does that apply to? Is it nurses staff, is it medical staff? Is it admin staff, is it porters?

“We are not necessarily talking about 5% frontline staff not being vaccinated.

“I’d really like to know what the breakdown is firstly!”

And Ms Hales refused to let the U-turn get to her, saying that she was just delighted when she heard about it because it keeps nurses in their jobs after their heroic contribution in times of need.

She said: “I think most of these people that we are talking about potentially being dismissed will actually have worked throughout the pandemic and they have supported their teams and their patients.

“I am trying and look at it from a balanced perspective and it’s quite a difficult one I have lost family members due to Covid so for me obviously it’s quite a personal thing.

“However I do think that people should be able to give the choice.

“We have had mandatory vaccinations for the NHS for donkey’s years, we all had to be vaccinated and our normal childhood vaccinations to work!”

What she can’t stomach though is the fact that the rules differ from country to country within the UK as she ranted against the government for the “unfairness” and “disparity”.

She said: “We have had mandatory vaccinations for the NHS for donkey’s years, we all had to be vaccinated and our normal childhood vaccinations to work.

“This legislation came in very quickly, it doesn’t apply to Scotland and Wales but only to England.

“And again [we have] that disparity and unfairness throughout the UK nationally.

“I think we have to be very careful about making these kinds of legislations really hard and fast”

Health Secretary Sajid Javid commented on the decision to revoke mandatory jabs for NHS and social care workers.

He said: “Today I am announcing that we will launch a consultation on ending Vaccination as a Condition of Deployment in health and all social care settings.

“Subject to the responses and the will of this House, the Government will revoke the regulations.

“I have always been clear that our rules must remain proportionate and balanced  and of course, should we see another dramatic change in the virus, it would be responsible to review this policy again.”
