Hernando Puno, 51, is accused of carrying out nine assaults on seven women from November 2012 to March 2021. Yesterday the healthcare professional appeared before Blackpool magistrates and indicated he would deny all the offences. Puno is accused of intentionally sexually touching each victim when they neither consented, nor did he believe they were consenting, at BlackpoolVictoria Hospital.

Puno, of Layton, Blackpool, arrived at the resort’s court wearing a face mask for the five-minute hearing. He spoke only to confirm his name, address, date of birth and to say that he was aware of his bail conditions. He also confirmed that he would be pleading not guilty.

Chairman of the bench Robert Osinski-Gray agreed with the Crown Prosecution Service’s request to send the case to Preston Crown Court for trial. Puno was then bailed until his appearance there on February 2. Sue Mugford, defending, agreed this was the most suitable venue for the serious case.
