An email to staff at South Western Ambulance NHS Foundation Trust said jabs should be booked on a “rest day”. The Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine is held at very low temperatures and has a shelf life once out of a freezer.

Recipients should be observed for 15 minutes afterwards.
A spokesperson for the trust said: “Given the challenges of delivering the vaccine, it is important that staff are able to arrive promptly for their appointment.
“We are therefore advising staff to attend a clinic on a day when they are not completing a frontline shift, as the very nature of emergency work could prevent guaranteed attendance at an appointment time.”
