Next green-list destinations 'revealed' but France and Spain 'not included'
Popular holiday destinations including France, Spain and Greece are likely to be missed off the next safe travel ‘green list’ update.
A review of the lists is set for the week leading up to June 7, but only the British Virgin Islands and some Caribbean countries are expected to be added to the list, The Telegraph reports.
The places to be added for quarantine-free travel are those which just missed out on the list which was revealed last Friday.
The news will come as a blow to British tourists planning a trip to the continent after the foreign travel ban is officially lifted from next Monday.
But as of May 17 – when the country will switch to a traffic light-based risk system for travel abroad – people will only be able to visit 12 countries without having to self-isolate on their return.
Only Portugal, Iceland, Gibraltar, the Faroe Islands, Israel, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Brunei made the ‘green list’.
And travellers will not yet be able to go on holiday to Australia, New Zealand or Singapore as their borders remain closed to UK tourists.
Most other countries will be on the amber list, requiring a 10 day quarantine period which can be cut to five under a paid-for test and release scheme.
