Newcastle murder: Man, 50, brutally killed in broad daylight following frenzied attack

Northumbria Police confirmed the attack took place at 6.20pm on Wednesday. The attack took place outside a Greggs in Old Eldon Square Police have confirmed.  The man was later rushed to hospital where he died of his wounds.

Following the attack, Northumbria Police confirmed that they have opened a murder investigation.

Police have arrested six men on suspicion of murder.

Detective Superintendent John Bent said: “First and foremost our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who has sadly lost his life.

“We’re appealing for anyone who may have information, or who may have witnessed the incident to get in touch with us as any information could be vital.

“Inquiries are ongoing and I want to reassure the public that officers will be carrying out further inquiries and conducting patrols in the area so if you have any concerns please speak to officers.”

The attack comes in the same week where a 16-year-old male was murdered in Camden, north London on Monday night.

Police confirmed that the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The brutal attack took place at 11.10pm in Munster Square.

Moreover, preceding that attack, a police officer was stabbed several times in Leyton, east London.

The 28-year-old police officer was carrying out a routine traffic stop last Thursday.

Muhammad Rodwan, 56 from Luton was charged with attempted murder.

He will appear at the Old Bailey on September 6.
