New weather warning issued for parts of UK as wild weather continues

A new weather warning has been issued for parts of the UK tomorrow.

The yellow alert covers Wales, the South West England and much of the southern coast.

Strong winds and heavy rain are expected to batter the areas throughout Thursday and spread into the West Midlands and parts of the North.

Forecasters are expecting a ‘brief spell of heavy rain and strong, gusty winds perhaps causing some transport disruption and flooding’.

The warning is in place from 10am to 7pm, though conditions will differ depending on the area throughout the warning period.

It’s the latest in a string of warning issued in recent weeks amid unpredictable weather conditions.

After a summer drought, most of the country has seen spells of torrential rain, particularly Scotland.

Homes were flooded and transport was severely disrupted over the weekend by stormy conditions.

Supermarkets in Shetland, the northernmost part of the UK, were running low on supplies over the weekend because ferries couldn’t risk the crossing.

Recent wet weather meant a hosepipe ban covering more than 15 million people could be lifted this week.

Thames Water introduced the measure after historic low levels of rainfall over the summer.

The ban came into effect on August 24 after a drought was officially declared across most of England following the driest July for 50 years and the driest first half of the year since 1976.

Above average rainfall meant restrictions could be eased, the company said.
