Meghan Markle and her child are both healthy and well.

Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, has given birth to a son.

The baby boy was born at around 5:30am on Monday, weighing 7lbs 3oz (3.3kg). He will be seventh in line to the throne.

The duke of Sussex, Prince Harry, was present for the birth.

“It’s been the most amazing experience I could ever possibly imagine,” he said. “I’m so incredibly proud of my wife.”

Harry said he was ecstatic about the birth of their first child and promised that more details – such as the baby’s name – will be shared in the coming days.
