New Royal Baby as Princess Eugenie gives birth to boy

Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank have welcomed a baby boy, the Royal Family has said.

The newborn arrived at The Portland Hospital at 8.55am this morning, and weighs 8lbs 1oz. Both mother and baby are said to be doing well.

Eugenie took to Instagram this evening to share a black and white picture of her son’s hand with her followers. She captioned the image with three blue hearts in a row.

A spokesperson confirmed that the Queen, Prince Philip, Prince Andrew, the Duchess of York and Jack’s parents, Nicola and George, had all been informed. They are all said to be delighted with the news.

The baby boy is Eugenie and Jack’s first child, and the first grandchild for the Duke and Duchess of York. He is also the Queen’s ninth great-grandchild.

Jack and Eugenie married in October 2018, after meeting in Verbier, a ski resort in Switzerland, in 2010. They got engaged in Nicaragua in January 2018.

The couple are yet to announce the name of their new son. However, as 10th in line to the throne, Eugenie is not as bound by tradition as her cousin Prince William, and may choose a more modern name.
