Speaking to US-based lifestyle show Entertainment Tonight, the actress who appeared in the hit film ‘Bridesmaids’ expressed how “inspired” and “impressed” she was after interviewing Meghan Markle. Her remarks come as Ms McCarthy spoke to Meghan following the launch of Duchess’s latest ’40×40′ mentorship scheme on her 40th birthday which aims to get women to re-enter the workforce. The Duchess of Sussex has asked fans to donate 40-minutes of their time to achieve the goals. The American went on to call for “a billion people to be like” Meghan as she gave an extraordinarily passionate review of the Duchess.

Host Kevin Frazier asked Melissa McCarthy what it was like to work with Meghan Markle on her latest 40×40 campaign.

Ms McCarthy replied: “Just amazing!

“I am impressed and inspired by her.”

She added: “I love someone who chooses to lead their life the way they want to and gives her children the life they want to give them.”

Ms McCarthy went on to praise Meghan for “taking the opportunity” to launch the project on her 40th birthday when others would opt for “fun things.”

The actress said: “She [Meghan] is like: ‘how can I get more people to help other women that need help?’

“We need a billion more people like that in the world! To take a little bit of time to really help somebody”

“And I was like, sign me up!”

Despite Ms McCarthy’s comments, Meghan’s latest project has not been a hit with everyone.

Speaking to True Royalty TV’s The Royal Beat at the weekend, Royal biographer Duncan Larcombe furiously branded the project “rubbish”.

In a scathing statement, Mr Larcombe slammed: “It’s great, she’s doing that, she’s just had a baby and it’s all about Meghan!

“And it’s all rubbish frankly!”

He went on to claim: “It’s gone down so badly in this country!

“She has left behind her a trail of devastation, on the Markle side, and now on the Windsor side.”

And in perhaps the most stinging rebuke of all, Mr Larcombe lambasted Meghan saying: “I don’t want to see her lecturing young mums having to go back to work from inside her $11 million LA mansion!

“This initiative is nonsense. She should be spending her time trying to build bridges with the very people that she and Harry have betrayed.”
