One said: “It was dreadful last night and previous nights I couldn’t get to sleep,” while another complained: “It’s loud in the daytime today and I’ve reported it.” Some said that the noise could also be heard in the neighbouring village of Marford.

Andrew Atkinson, a local councillor for Gresford, said the noise was emanating from a factory.

He has questioned Wrexham County Borough Council on the matter and the council said that it had been in touch with the firm responsible – who it refused to name – and something had been done as no further complaints have been made.

Ian Jones, Wrexham County Borough Council’s public protection service manager, said: “We did issue a notice to the company following complaints from residents in the area. We are pleased that since that time no further complaints have been received.

“We understand that the company is awaiting a new part for one of their machines which should ensure there is not a repeat of the noise experienced.

“Residents and the local councillor have expressed their thanks for the speedy resolution to this matter.”
