Mystery as ‘WEIRD’ creature washes up on Devon beach – bizarre photos

The discovery was made by a Connor Willers who stumbled upon the chunk of rotting remains on Teignmouth beach. His photos appear to show reddish-brown and white tufts of fur on the decomposing flesh. The sight left him baffled as to what animal it could belong to.

Mr Willers told Devon Live: “I found this really weird and mysterious creature on the beach in Teignmouth.”

Last year a dog walker came across the carcass of a mystery creature on Rhossili Beach in Swansea.

While the five-foot long creature resembled a crocodile, a ranger who collected the body said he believed it was a porpoise.

And two years ago, pictures of a massive, blob-like “monster” which washed up on a beach in the Philippines went viral.

Locals flocked to the shore and posed for selfies in front of the mysterious sea creature.

After much speculation, authorities said it was some kind of decaying whale carcass but could not identify the exact species.

In March it was revealed researchers had found “alien-like creatures” living 1,000 metres below the surface in Antarctica.

Divers featured in Sir David Attenborough’s BBC documentary Blue Planet 2 used a Triton submarine to explore 1,000 meters below the surface – a first for the researchers.

Their footage showed what appeared to be bright neon lights shining though the deep waters.

Mr Attenborough, 92, said: “Alien-like creatures produce dazzling displays of light.

“Nearly all animals need to attract mates and repel predators but this language of light is so widespread here that these signals are probably the most common form of communication.

“Yet we still know little about them.”
