‘My bloke and I bought our first home at 21 thanks to saving thousands’

A new homeowner has shared how she was able to save money to buy her first home at the age of 21. She explained how she saved money by cutting back on unnecessary purchases and living at home.

She shared photos of her house in a TikTok video online. She said: “POV – Your finally home owners at 21.”

‌“WE ARE HOME OWNERS – words can’t even describe how surreal it sounds to say that! It’s definitely been a long time coming. Here’s to forever.”

‌Many people were left wondering after learning how the new homeowner was able to save so much money.

TikTok users were shocked to learn the savvy saver was putting away £800 a month.

She explained: “We were already saving before reserving the house, but since December we put a minimum of £800 into savings which has helped massively.”

‌Ben stated how she cut back on her expenses and made some sacrifices so she could save as much as possible every month leading up to her purchase.‌

She said: “I know it sounds like a lot, but if we didn’t save it then it would’ve gone on stupid things like car mods, clothes, holidays etc.

“So the luxury life can 100 percent wait, it can all be done once you have your own roof, just remember that too.”

Bev confessed it was her partner who actually encouraged her to save up so the couple could buy a house.

‌She admitted: “My boyfriend is a finance manager and I’m a mortgage administrator. He already had savings before we met so he’s been pushing me to save since January.”

‌Motivating people to be able to purchase their own home, Bev recommended that one should save around £200 a month as a starting point, if they were looking to buy a home soon.

‌She said: “We also lived with my parents’ pay board but cutting down on unnecessary things is my top one and try to put a minimum amount aside per month, say £150/200. You’ll be there in no time.”
