Mum slams 'filthy' quarantine hotel which cost her £1,750

A British tourist said she was ‘treated worse than a prisoner’ when she had to quarantine near Heathrow.

The stay at the Ramada Hounslow hotel cost Lyn Siddle £1,750 but she claims the room was filthy.

The Southport mum was coming back to England from Bali, which was on the amber travel list, on June 19.

But a three hour layover in red list Abu Dhabi meant she had to spend ten days in isolation on her return to the country.

She had provided a negative test result and completed a passenger locator form but had to fork out for the hotel ahead of time.

Lyn says she was told she could not board her plane home without proving she’d already paid for the hotel stay in England, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The mum said: ‘Three hours I was in Abu Dhabi airport for, and it was empty. The flight was empty. I didn’t see anybody.

‘I have had three coronavirus tests [since being in the hotel] and all of them were negative.’

Images taken inside the hotel appear to show dirt on the hotel room floor, as well as broken air conditioning and television and food served in plastic containers.

A friend commented on her Facebook page saying she was being ‘treated worse than a prisoner’.

Lyn said she had been moved to a ‘bigger, cleaner room’ with a working TV and air conditioning. after eight days of ‘complaining, frustration and stress’.

Department for Transport guidance states if you have been in a country or territory on the red list in the 10 days before you arrive in England, you must quarantine in a managed hotel.

Government guidance also says people should not travel to red list countries or territories.

Metro.co.uk has approached the operator of the hotel for comment.
